Mari Fukuda is an Ayurvedic practitioner, a yoga teacher, and a student of life. In her background in the corporate field, Mari struggled with physical health relating to stress. As she started practicing yoga and committed consistent practice, she started to see results in her health – she was no longer getting cold or flu, shed off some unnatural weight effortlessly and mentally saw she was able to remain calm and positive despite living in the fast-paced environment. Upon leaving her career, Mari joined the teacher training at 7 Centers Yoga Arts in Sedona, AZ to deepen her knowledge of yoga and also, to fully immerse into the detoxification to improve her health. She’s gained so much more than just yoga in this training as she dove into the depth of Ayurveda. The sister science of yoga, Ayurveda is an ancient wisdom of holistic healing which has been practiced in India for over 5,000 years. Ayurveda approaches using nutrition, lifestyle modification, yogic breathing, meditation, herbs and other natural treatments to bring sustainable health. Mari’s one of first few Ayurvedic books she purchased was The Science of Health Healing by Dr. Vasant Lad, the world-renowned Ayurvedic physician who has more than 40 years of practice in Ayurveda and allopathic medicine. Mari was incredibly fortunate to study under the tutelage of Dr. Lad at The Ayurvedic Institute in Albuquerque, NM where he facilitates the authentic teaching of Ayurveda. In two years, Mari completed more then 1,200 hours of studies and practical training and has also studied with other highly qualified doctors, teachers and practitioners.
My healing journey has its roots from past traumas and overwhelming stress. During my corporate career days in Tokyo, taking time to relax was something unheard of. I had experienced PMS symptoms since in my early 20‘s but because I was so “busy” to slow down, I’d rely on over the counter medicine to mask the problems. Curiosity led me to explore all types of yoga practice, which were excessively challenging physically leading to injury. The more I pushed myself the more problems I was experiencing with my health. As I discovered Ayurveda and my own prakruti*, I realized that I was misusing my body by overdoing physical activities that did not resonate with me. It took a while to learn and listen to my body and be kind to myself. By incorporating the profound medicine of Ayurveda into my life, things have shifted amazingly. I’ve conquered the fear of facing my trauma allowing me to finally let go of patterns which no longer served me in a beneficial way. I’m able to navigate my own physical symptoms and to guide myself in effective changes to eliminate them. My mission is to share how you can uncover the underlying imbalance that is affecting your health. As my teacher Dr. Lad would say, “pain is the greatest teacher, listen to your pain, learn from your pain”. I’ve been blessed with truly amazing teachers in my journey of healing, I would be honored to share what I have learned to help you experience this transformative, life changing process that will continue to unfold.
